Terms and Conditions of Use
Effective date: 27 Aug. 2026
1. Acceptance and Scope
These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of the IECON 2026 mobile application (the “App”), provided by the IECON 2026 Organizing Committee on behalf of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (the “Organizers”, “we”, “us”) in connection with the 52nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, Doha, Qatar (the “Conference”). By installing or using the App, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.
These Terms supplement, and do not replace, the Conference registration terms, the IEEE Code of Conduct, the IEEE Event Conduct and Safety Statement, and the Privacy Policy available at (https://attend.ieee.org/sam-2026/wp-content/uploads/sites/785/IEEEEventConductAndSafetyStatement.pdf). In the event of conflict concerning Conference participation, the Conference registration terms prevail.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
The App is intended for registered Conference participants, speakers, exhibitors, and organizers. Access credentials are personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity conducted under your account. Notify us promptly at contact@sab-q.co of any unauthorized use.
3. Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for participation in the Conference and in accordance with these Terms and the applicable app store. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. Conference Content and Intellectual Property
The App, its design, and its content, including the Conference programme, abstracts, speaker materials, logos, and trademarks, are protected by intellectual property rights owned by the Organizers, IEEE, the respective authors, or their licensors. IEEE, the IEEE logo, and IECON are trademarks of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated.
• You may view and use Conference content within the App for personal, non-commercial purposes related to your participation.
• You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly communicate, scrape, or create derivative works from Conference content, including paper abstracts and presentation materials, except as permitted by the rights holder or by mandatory law.
• Recording, photographing, or streaming of technical sessions is governed by the Conference’s on-site policies and speaker permissions, not by these Terms.
5. User Content and Networking Features
The App may allow you to create a profile, exchange messages, submit questions, and post comments (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant the Organizers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and transmit your User Content solely for operating the App and the Conference, expiring upon deletion of the content or decommissioning of the App.
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You warrant that it does not infringe third-party rights and complies with Section 6.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
• harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against any person, or otherwise breach the IEEE Code of Conduct;
• send unsolicited commercial messages or advertising through the App’s communication features;
• upload unlawful, infringing, or malicious content, including malware;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, its servers, or other users’ data, or to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the App other than under an authorized disclosure process;
• scrape, harvest, or bulk-export attendee data, or use attendee contact details for purposes unrelated to the Conference;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
• interfere with the operation of the App, including by circumventing technical restrictions or imposing disproportionate load on its infrastructure.
We may remove content, suspend features, or revoke access, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms or the IEEE Code of Conduct have been breached. Serious misconduct may also be addressed under the Conference registration terms, including exclusion from the Conference.
7. Accuracy of Information; Availability
The Conference programme, room assignments, and schedules displayed in the App are subject to change. While we take reasonable care to keep information current, the App is provided for convenience; the Organizers do not warrant that its content is complete, accurate, or continuously available. On-site signage and official announcements prevail over App content in case of discrepancy.
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time, including after the Conference ends. Use of the App requires an internet connection; associated data charges are your responsibility.
8. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services, including Google Firebase and the Apple Push Notification service for notifications, and may contain links to third-party websites, including sponsor and exhibitor pages. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third parties. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Organizers, IEEE, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and the App vendor disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizers, IEEE, and the App vendor from claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your User Content or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own fault.
11. Privacy
Processing of personal data through the App is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms where necessary for legal, security, or operational reasons. The current version is available in the App. Material changes will be announced through the App; continued use after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, consistent with IEEE contracting practice, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes shall be subject to the arbitration clause per IEEE counsel, except where mandatory consumer protection law grants you the right to proceed in the courts of your habitual residence.
